Once again, Happy New Year!
I am not immune to the unfortunate "let's-get-going-from-the-new-year" mentality. I like to think the fact that I decided the things I wanted to do this year before the clock struck twelve sets me apart, but who am I kidding?
There are a number of things I want to accomplish surrounding this blog and the things it's meant to represent in 2024. First, as for the blog itself, this year will see more diversity of posts and a greater volume. Last year, there was some momentum gained from the garden journal. That will continue once seed starting season comes around. This isn't meant to be a gardening-only site, though, and I am looking forward to writing about hikes, camping, and Fukui/Hokuriku-centered topics. My goal is at least 48 posts on the year, a little less than 1 per week, with a hope to put out more than that.
Widening our lens a bit, let's talk podcasts. If you glance to the top of the page, you will find a new "Podcast" tab. Click that and you'll be directed to a new page where The Distracted Gardener, my new gardening adjacent pod, can be found. You'll also find links to find it on Apple Podcasts and Spotify from there. The first episode, titled "Gardens and the Beauty of Winter," is up now. I hope you'll check it out and that you'll find my constant use of "umm" less detestable than I do.
Lastly, for now, is my beginning to find a chunk of land for myself. I've been enjoying gardening in planters, but my space is so limited and so is what I can grow. Not only that, I'm hoping to transition away from my English school over the next few years and finding land is an essential part of that. More on that when something develops, but that is the biggest and most challenging thing I'm likely to undertake this year.
What are you hoping to get done this year?
This year I'm hoping my weight loss and muscle gain will continue until I reach my goal of 75kg or some yoked out version of myself that would justify weighing more. I have a to-do list but basically all of that is monetarily locked so ... ya eventually on that.
